Why Your Donation to the Public Law Library of King County Matters:

Many people are not aware of this, but the Public Law Library of King County is not a part of the King County government. County law libraries in Washington State are creatures of statute, under RCW 27.24, and the primary means of funding the public law library is the receipt of a small portion of county court civil filing fees. Over the last decade, filing fees have dropped dramatically both in King County and nationwide.

The Public Law Library of King County is a legal lifeline for thousands of King County residents. We assist with finding forms and resources for unmet legal needs. We provide access to legal materials and databases, along with research training and affordable CLEs. We also have a ground-breaking walk-in legal aid clinic run by our own public services attorney. We are one of only a handful of law libraries across the country that provide in-house legal aid.

We depend on support from generous individuals like you to help fund our collections, access to legal materials and databases, classes and CLEs, and our legal aid clinic. Your gift helps sustain these vital services for all King County residents.
